Leicester Lib Dems have requested that the City Council reveal how much taxpayers money has been spent decorating the City Council Leaders office after it emerged that £2,423 had been spent on three chandeliers.

The cost of running a car has soared by up to £2,200 in the last year. Higher charges for fuel, insurance and road-tax have pushed up the price of driving by four times the rate of inflation, according to the AA. The increasing cost of taking to the roads follows growing concern over drastic rises in food, housing, heat and council tax bills.

Inner Circle U-Turn

The inner circle bus route, which has run on a 15-mile loop around the city for decades, was planned to be dropped as a result of a Labour budget proposal to withdraw its subsidy. However due to public pressure the bus service will now continue to run during the day but will still be stopped during the evenings and weekends.
