Roger Blackmore Backs The Protest

Western Park Lib Dem Councillors Peter Coley and Roger Blackmore are fully backing protesters who attended a demonstration against plans to demolish an historic building to make way for flats.

Local residents living in and around Glenfield Road area organised the protest after the city council granted permission for development to go ahead on the building, known as Gimson cottages. The cottages were built by the architect Charles Baker for members of the Gimson family, who ran engineering and timber businesses in the city in the 1800s.

Residents went on to sign a petition which will be sent to the council planning department and directors of Eastern Shires Housing Association, which owns the site.
