Braunstone resident and campaigner Ian Bradwell was recognised by the City Councils Licensing Department for his work in getting taxi drivers to accept guide dogs into their taxis.

Ian who had tea with the Lord Mayor and Licencing officers yesterday was denied access to a taxi because he was accompanied by his guide dog 'renie' in February 2006. He took the issue to the Council's Licensing Department who in turn took the matter to the courts.

Ian said, "I was humbled in the fact that something I had done been recognised in such a way, I felt it was all worth it and I hope taxi drivers in future will be more thoughtful in their approach with disabled people."
