Residents and businesses in Aylestone Park have voiced their opinions about a proposed residents-only parking scheme.

The latest parking consultation, which took place in June and July this year, took in Aylestone ward and part of the Freemen ward. Although the majority of people in Aylestone who responded didn't express an interest in having a residents parking scheme, a number of streets in the neighbouring Freemen ward did back such a scheme.

The city council will now consider whether to consult again with people living and working in the western part of Freemen ward to see what kind of scheme might work there.

The area involved would include Boundary Road, Dartford Road, Greenhithe Road, Swanscombe Road, Brooksby Street and Hughenden Drive, where there was strong support for a scheme.

The council will also consult in Erith Road and Lothair Road, Batten Street and Rutland Avenue, where there were a mixture results for and against the scheme.

It will also look again at the western side of Aylestone Road between the gas cottages and Rutland Avenue, and the eastern side, from Hughenden Drive to Lothair Road. The western side of Saffron Lane, between Hughenden Drive and Lothair Road also falls in the area to be re-consulted.

Full results of the original consultation will be available from August 17 at www.leicester.gov.uk/aylestoneresidentsparking <http://www.leicester.gov.uk/aylestoneresidentsparking>
