Over 100 Eyres Monsell residents have signed a petition demanding that the City Council take positive steps in forcing the owners to tidy up the site where the Invincible stands, located on the corner of Sturdee Road and Rye Close in Eyres Monsell.

The disused vandalised pub has been boarded up for three years and the area around the pub has become a dumping ground. Local press have stated that people living nearby say they often see mice and rats on the site.

Eyres Monsell resident Joan Garrity, who helped collect signatures for the petition, said in local press: "It's an eyesore, and it's the gateway to the estate. There is always fly-tipping and rubbish around. There's a mattress that seems to have been there for ever. It's very unpleasant for all the people living nearby. There's no reason for the site to be as it is. We know there are plans to pull it down. That might not happen for a while, but the area should be cleared up now."

Local campaigner Scott Kennedy-Lount, presented the petition to the full council meeting on Wednesday (25th November).
