New Hope for Western Park Toilet Refurbishment

Western Park Toilet

Peter Coley has had meetings with the local Chamber of Commerce and a public spirited local company and it seems there is a good chance that the company may be able to help with the restoration.

Western Park is the largest park in the city of Leicester but it currently has no public conveniences although it is well used, hosts "Bands on Parks" performances and various athletic events throughout the year.

Peter Coley, the Liberal Democrat Councillor for Western Park said, "The public toilets near the children's play area were vandalised and burnt out shortly after being opened several years ago. Despite efforts by myself and Councillor Blackmore, other council staff and a large petition collected by the local neighbourhood watch the building remains closed and unusable as the Labour run council maintains it does not have the money to carry out the repairs."

"The council is currently spending £31,000 giving Labour councillors nicer rooms in the Town hall with a view of Town Hall Square and recently spent over £300,000 on banners around the City proclaiming "One Leicester" so you can judge for yourselves where Labour's priorities lie."

At last there does seem to be a possible solution to the problem. Peter Coley has had meetings with the local Chamber of Commerce and a public spirited local company and it seems there is a good chance that the company may be able to help with the restoration.

Initial site visits have been made to assess the problem and of course further updates will be posted if the company feel they can help us but so far the signs are promising, lets keep our fingers crossed.
