Parmjit Gill fights against Labour plans to close our local Post Offices12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 28th Jun 2004
Government policies are causing yet more Post Offices to close. Hundreds more Post Offices are being axed as a second wave of closures sweeps across the country. Parmjit Gill and the Liberal Democrats have been fighting the cuts locally. The Conservative candidate in the Leicester South by-election, who recently arrived in Leicester from his Lincoln home, claims to have been involved in the campaign to save Leicester Post Offices - but shot himself in the foot when he didn't know the difference between South Knighton and West Knighton Post Offices in his campaign leaflets. The last Conservative Government axed 4,000 Post Offices.
