The first new library for 20 years was opened in the Hamilton area at the end of last year. The library has been very popular with local residents, with 1200 visitors in the first week of opening alone. Such popularity is down to the wide range of services the library offers - including free internet access, DVD rental in addition to 10,000 books.

The library was opened as part of the Leicester Liberal Democrats scheme to promote learning for all ages and community regeneration. The creation of the Hamilton library is also in line with Government targets to ensure that every child in the country has access to a computer.
