Leicester Gets it's First Lib Dem Lord Mayor

Lib Dem Knighton Councillor Gary Hunt has become the City's first Liberal Democrat Lord Mayor.

The new Lord Mayor of Leicester was sworn into office last night in a civic ceremony at the Town Hall. The status of consorts to the Lord Mayor were given to Cllr. Hunt's children, Rachael and Christopher Hunt.

Councillor Gary Hunt told local press that "It's a great honour to be elected Lord Mayor of the City of Leicester." He then went on to announce that his chosen charity would be the Rainbows Children's Hospice, in Loughborough.
