Green Flag Award

Leicester was awarded SIX green flags this year - A record!

Leicester was awarded 6 green flags this year for the quality and improvement of 6 different different parks and open spaces , an all-time record, reflecting the additional monies put into these services by the Lib Dems.

Abbey Park, Aylestone Hall Gardens, Evington Park, Knighton Park, Watermead Country Park and Welford Road Cemetery have all been announced as winners of the award.

In addition, New Parks Allotment Society was awarded a Green Pennant Award, which recognises quality sites managed by voluntary and community groups.

All Green Flag Award winners are judged to be welcoming, safe and well-maintained, and involving the local community.

Cllr. Peter Coley, Leader of the the Lib Dem council group said, "Well done to the Council's parks staff, groups and individuals who have worked hard to provide these vital green spaces which improve the quality of life for all to enjoy."
