Ex Councillor Chosen to Fight for Castle

Campaigner Joan Garrity talks about Castle Wards issues with the Leader of the Lib Dem Council group in Clarendon Park.

Well known campaigner and ex Councillor Joan Garrity has been chosen as a candidate for the Lib Dems in the up and coming Castle Ward by-election.

Joan's name is already known within Castle Ward - prior to boundary changes, the Clarendon Park area was within East Knighton Ward, in-which Joan was first elected in 1999 to represent. Joan is still contacted by constituents to give help and advice, she continue's to work with the ethnic community in Leicester and Leicestershire and for Leicester South in a voluntary capacity with the Police Authority

Joan Garrity has a wealth of campaigning experience and has campaigned in local, county and parliamentary elections both in Leicester and nationally.

Cllr. Peter Coley, leader of the Liberal Democrat Council group said, "Joan Garrity will make an excellent councillor for Castle Ward. She is an excellent campaigner and former Councillor. She knows the area and the problems it faces."

Cllr. Parmjit Singh Gill, Liberal Democrat Government Spokesperson said, "Joan has a proven track record for working hard for her constituents."
